You loved it so much when we re-worked Now & Then, we figured it was time for another go!!
We’re betting most of you saw the 1995 flick Jumanji, because it grossed $263 mil!
In case you missed it, let’s recap…
Alan Parrish is an unhappy boy with a miserably mean father — played by Jonathan Hyde.
One day he and his homegirl Sarah find a board game called, you guessed it, Jumanji.
What they don’t know? The board game is magic! And kind of a douche!
It sucks Alan into an alternate dimension and Sarah runs out the door screaming!
Cut to a generation or so later, when an orphaned brother and sister — played by Kirsten Dunst and Bradley Pierce — stumble upon the dust-covered box for Jumanji.
Will a roll of the die, Alan Parish pops back out — except now he├óΓé¼Γäós middle-aged! And Robin Williams!
He’d been living in the alt-universe jungle the whole time! Killer bees, malevolent monkeys, and an evil safari guide (Van Pelt), who looks a lot like Alan’s d-bag dad, ALL follow him out of the game!!
They figure out the only way to make the badness stop is to beat the game, so they track down Sarah — who is all grown up and played by Bonnie Hunt — and death-defying HIGHlarity ensues!
Rest assured, the flick was one of the better family adventure films of the ’90s.
And now, Douglas Belgrad, the suit in charge at Columbia Pictures, just announced a Jumanji remake!
He said:
“We’re going to try and reimagine Jumanji and update it for the present.”
We’re not sure how they’re going to update it for the present — maybe the villain will be a cyborg instead of a safari hunter?? — but we DO have some great ideas for casting choices!
Ch-Ch-Check out the pics (below) and let us know if U agree with our recommendations!
And Mr. Belgrad, if nothing else, puhhh-lease let Joe Manganiello make a cameo as one of the killer crocodiles!! (Shirtless, of course.)
