Some stars slip away from us too fast. Scooter Braun once feared that would be the case for his client, Justin Bieber.
The music manager, who represents the likes of Biebs and Ariana Grande, revealed there was a time when he worried that the Purpose singer was “going to die.”

He explained on Van Lathan’s The Red Pill Podcast:

“There was a time when I would go to sleep almost every night—when he had the money to fly away from me—and I was worried every night that I was going to lose him.”

Braun was mostly referring to around 2014, when a then-19 Biebs committed a string of negative incidents — including a DUI arrest while drag racing in Miami and an egg-throwing incident that caused thousands in damage to his neighbor’s home.
At the time, the singer was widely condemned by the public for his overall insufferable behavior, but Braun said he feared something much worse:

“I thought he was going to die. I thought he was going to sleep one night and that he would have so much crap in his system that he would not wake up the next morning.”

Thankfully, Bieber soon made the choice to get clean — something Braun said was “a result of [Bieber’s] own decisions, no one else’s,” adding:

“I think he made a conscious choice for himself to change, I think for a year and a half I failed miserably trying to help him, because for year and a half he didn’t change…It wasn’t until one day he woke up and said, ‘Hey I need to talk to you, I don’t want to be that person anymore.'”

Now, the 24-year-old is a much different person. He goes to church regularly and is settling down with fiancee Hailey Baldwin.

Braun went on to call his superstar client an “extraordinary young man who’s been given an extraordinary life,” adding that his extraordinary life is something the performer grappled with for years:

“And he used to complain, and he used to fight it and that’s when he got into a dark place, but when he accepted his responsibility and took a hard look at himself and not what everyone was doing, that’s when he owned it and he got healthy.”

Don’t stop Beliebing in Bieber.
