Kaley Cuoco Gave Up Her Beloved Pup -- Because She Was Fighting With Fiancé Tom Pelphrey's Dog!

Kaley Cuoco is opening up about a tough decision she was forced to make.

On Sunday, The Big Bang Theory star took to Instagram to inform her followers that she unfortunately had to re-home her dog Shirley, whom she had since the pooch was just six weeks old! But it wasn’t because she didn’t want the dog anymore, or because the responsibility was too much. Instead, she confessed in a lengthy video that Shirley was on a mission to “kill” Kaley’s fiancé Tom Pelphrey’s dog. She shared:

“I wanted to talk about a story about a little dog named Shirley. Most of you know I had her for many, many, many years, and you kind of all of the sudden stopped seeing her, and I started to get a lot of questions as to where she was because it’s very unlike me to just stop posting about a dog that I’ve had since she was six weeks old. So long story short, she’s a very special dog to me as you all know and when the love of my life came into my life, Tom, who is also a mega dog lover, and he moved across the country with his beautiful German Shepherd Blue a couple years ago, unfortunately Blue and Shirley started getting into some mega fights. And Shirley was determined to kill him.”

She said it was “really scary,” and that Shirley had a history of getting into fights with other dogs, too:

“I loved her so much, but I was really scared. I didn’t want something really bad to happen or possibly a person accidentally be there and get hurt.”

What a tough position to be in.

Ultimately, her pet handler Tony and his wife Angie stepped up to help out a couple years ago, and have “had her ever since.” She noted it was “an excruciating decision,” and that the couple “loved her so so much.” Unfortunately, Shirley has now passed away at 14 years old after developing “a very aggressive bone cancer that came on very quickly,” according to Kaley. She added through tears:

“She was almost 14 years old, which is an unbelievable life for a dog. And I just wanted to share her story and what we had to do.”
