Kate Hudson's 'Wild Wild Country' Halloween Costume Sparks Controversy

Kate Hudson

Happy Halloween, y’all!
This is the oh so fun time of year when some of your favorite celebs go all out recreating iconic looks (cough cough Heidi Klum) while other celebs get caught in the crossfires of cultural appropriation or offending someone one way or another.
This year, Kate Hudson is part of the latter, but was her look really worth all the fuss?

The 39-year-old and her friends decided to dress up as members of the Rajneeshpuram community located in Wasco County, Oregon, who have become notoriously recognizable thanks to Netflix‘s documentary series Wild Wild Country.
Ch-ch-check out the group, decked out in all red like the original cult (below):

Hudson’s caption is a quote by the controversial Indian guru Rajneesh who started the whole movement. Boyfriend Danny Fujikawa is spotted in the shot (above) behind Kate, who is posing with prayer hands.
According to reports, the cult’s ex-lawyer Philip Toelkes was actually stoked to see the How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days actress’ take on the group. But the Internet gave the look mixed reviews, with a few Instagram users commenting:

“Wow….yuck… this group committed bio-terrorism against my home town. This was really, really poor”
“I never heard of this cult but it sounds like this choice was….. well…. not good…. perhaps fictional killers next Halloween.”

Yikes!
Do U guys think Kate’s Halloween look was inappropriate? Are U even a fan of the show? Sound off (below)!
