This is outrageous!
We were flabbergasted when we found out that Kate Middleton’s birthing suite would cost her $15,000, but not after hearing this!
Over in America, women can expect to pay between $30,000 for a vaginal birth and $50,000 to deliver a baby via c-section, and that’s without the champagne!
Insurance companies will pay about $18,329 and $27,866 of this, but the rest is left up to the parents.
Part of this huge difference is that in America they charge for every little thing rather than just an overall hospital fee.
The figure is also a bit skewed because it includes both the delivery and room costs, whereas it’s not clear if Kate’s is with the delivery costs too.
But it’s still not far off!
This is an upsetting number, especially considering how many babies are born every year.
Hopefully this royal birth will call attention to these figures, because women don’t need to be worrying about money when they’re carrying a child!
