If you thought you were excited about the royal baby’s birth, just wait for this!
Kate Middleton’s hometown of Bucklebury, where she’s returned to, has been partying their knickers off since Monday.
A small shop already sold 500 of the commemorative mugs it had made for the event. Owner Lynda Tillotson said:
“We didn├óΓé¼Γäót do anything for the royal wedding and there were people 10 deep in the shop looking for merchandise so this time we got ahead and designed a really nice, discreet mug. It├óΓé¼Γäós an acknowledgement towards the baby├óΓé¼Γäós birth. William has a heritage here in Bucklebury because the avenue of oaks, which is right beside the shop was planted for Queen Elizabeth I in the 16th Century. It├óΓé¼Γäós really lovely because Catherine has brought it right back home. That├óΓé¼Γäós the thought process behind the design of the mug. Naively we just put out a batch of 500 and it sold out within hours. We are now into our third run and I can├óΓé¼Γäót keep up with orders. There is also growing international interest and yesterday we received orders from Australia.├óΓé¼┬¥
There was a huge party in the town, with most residents flocking to the local pubs like The Bladebone, The Cottage Inn and Old Boot Inn in Stanford Dingley.
The Old Boot’s owner John Haley previously talked about Kate’s mothering skills, and after the birth said:
“Everyone’s over the moon. When the news came out everybody went crazy. I think the celebrations are going to go all week.├óΓé¼┬¥
And Kate’s favorite curry cooker, Hash Shingadia, said:
“We are very happy. The entire village is overjoyed by the news. There is happiness all around and we would like to wish the all the very best. We hope that the Duke and Duchess will bring the future king into the shop when they next visit. We are really looking forward to seeing the baby.”
A long-time local, Diane Dalgarno, added:
“There is a real feeling of community now in the village. We put out the bunting for the royal wedding and now again for the royal birth. You always know when they are around because of the increased police presence but we always respect their privacy. They certainly don’t get mobbed.”
We’re guessing security has never been higher than it is right now since there are two heirs to the crown to protect.
No doubt, this is a very exciting time for the small town! We wonder if Kate and William will take the baby around to show them all?
Or maybe they’ll just throw a fancy dinner party.
