Last week Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry got ever so slightly ahead of the curve and decided to “self-quarantine” amid fears of the coronavirus.
Orlando posted about his Amazon fantasy show, Carnival Row, halting production in Prague as the pandemic continued to spread, telling fans from set — where he and his castmates had just found out:
“We’re coming home to the States, at least I’m coming home to the States because we want to get in before the quarantine. Big love everybody, stay safe out there. Self-quarantine. It seems really crazy actually this whole corona thing, but do the right thing by you and your family and stay safe. A few weeks, we’ll beat this bad boy.”
We learned just afterward Katy was following her fiancé home. A source told ET on Friday:
“Katy has left Australia to head home to see Orlando and rest. This is Katy’s first pregnancy and although she wants to still keep her work commitments, she knows now is a scary time and is taking her health and her child’s health serious.”
Makes perfect sense considering Katykat is preggers, and this pandemic is really serious business!

Except — was Orlando in quarantine because he was sick? A lot of fans got worried, but a source reassured People on Monday:
“Orlando is back at home. He isn’t sick.”
All the concern caused the Pirates of the Caribbean star to release a SECOND Instagram Story explaining he wasn’t sick and had no reason to worry he was infected, writing:
“Hey guys, thank you all for you [sic] concern. Just to be clear, our production of @carnivalrow season 2 was suspended by @legendary and @amazonprimevideo as a wise precautionary measure due to the events unfolding globally regarding COVID-19. There have been no reported cases of COVID-19 on our set or on our production. I feel very grateful to have arrived safely home to my family. Be safe and wash your hands!”
That’s good! We’d hate to think Katy was self-isolating in a house with someone who had been exposed. Thankfully, People‘s source says the expectant mom “seems more cautious since she is pregnant.”
The insider adds that Katy is “well” and that they’re both being incredibly safe together:
“They will spend time at home together and monitor the situation. They are happy to be back in the U.S. They have no plans to work for now and will instead lay low.”
Really NO ONE should be working right now except for health professionals and skeleton crews at grocery stores.
And, you know, anyone who can work from home.
