It’s truly inspiring that she’s such an open book!
We love Katy Perry for her fun songs and honest lyrics — so in a recent interview, we weren’t really shocked when the songstress confessed that many personal questions about her life are revealed in her music…
But the conversation with Australia’s The Project took a turn for the dark, when Miz Perry got into talking about one of the final songs on the Prism album:
“Then there’s By the Grace of God — which is the first song that I wrote coming to make this record, when I was in a different place, I was in a darker place.”

The shadowy moments she faced were predictably after her very public split from comedian Russell Brand. Katy went on to hint at suicidal thoughts following the breakup:
“Sometimes you can be blinded by your extreme emotions. I definitely was looking for answers, and during that time I wrote that song, and I was depressed and it was sad. And there were thoughts, but there were never actions…thankfully.”
She continued on by saying the real reason she was pulled out of depression was because of her fans, who go through the same slew of emotions she does:
“I wanted to share that side of my story because I know there are so many other people out there that have gone through things like that, and you always feel like you’re the only one going through it.”
We’re so thrilled KatyCat is happy with her new self — and if she continues to write with the same raw and honest policy, we have a feeling she’ll be a hit maker for years to come!
