Keith Olbermann Beats Out CNN In Ratings On New Network

Not bad!

Keith Olbermann, who was let go from MSNBC earlier this year, has returned to television with stellar ratings!

Although he couldn’t quite overtake MSNBC’s ratings during the 8pm premiere of his Current version of Countdown With Keith Olbermann last Monday, he managed to attract more target demographic viewers than CNN!

Countdown With Keith Olbermann averaged 179,000 viewers in news├óΓé¼Γäó target demographic of 25- to 54-year-olds, while CNN’s In The Arena with Eliot Spitzer only managed 89,000.

MSNBC├óΓé¼Γäós Last Word with Lawrence O├óΓé¼ΓäóDonnell nabbed 237,000 viewers, but Rome wasn’t built in a day and we can see Keith’s new show stealing some of those numbers once it gets going.

He’s not letting the high ratings get to his head either, as he modestly commented:

“We├óΓé¼Γäóre very pleased, but like I said last week, it├óΓé¼Γäós one night. We├óΓé¼Γäóll need a couple of weeks to know where we’re starting, and we’re truly interested in next year and especially 2013.├óΓé¼┬¥

Looks like Current hooked a big fish!

Do U think the success of Keith Olbermann’s new show will continue and possibly attract more viewers than MSNBC in the same time slot?

UPDATE: Eliot Spitzer has been on vacation all week. Should be inneresting to see how Keith fares against Spitzer’s In The Arena when he returns!
