Kelsey Grammer has just been named as a defendant in a $100 million dollar lawsuit!
Apparently everyone’s favorite sitcom shrink was involved with a Ponzy scheme that bilked investors out of millions. Several of these victims have taken legal action against Grammer and more than 100 other defendants.
One of those suing is Grammer’s former co-star Lydia Cornell. The two actors worked together on the Kelsey Grammer-Bill Zucker Comedy Hour, but this lawsuit is no joke!
The lawsuit alleges that one Alex Varonos, with the help of Grammer’s celebrity endorsement, convinced people to invest in a fake company called Staropoly.com while pocketing all the money.
According to the lawsuit, Grammer not only knew about the scheme, but was pretty darn close to the top of the pyramid.
Grammer says that far from being the Boss, he was actually just another victim, losing his own investment to the scam artist! Says attorney Marty Singer:
“Any claims filed against Kelsey Grammer concerning Starpoly (sic) are absurd and without merit. Kelsey has been substantially damaged in this venture, and in fact lost $1 million of his own money. Kelsey received nothing from the venture, monetarily or otherwise.├óΓé¼┬¥
There’s clearly a lot more to this story, but one thing’s for sure- this is one suit that even Frasier Crane wouldn’t look good in!
