Kenneth Cole is coming under fire for a controversial tweet in the wake of Kate Spade‘s passing.
On Tuesday, he called the late designer an “inspiring accessory” to pay tribute to the 55-year-old, and it did not go over well on Twitter!

Cole’s since-deleted tweet shared:
“‘I believed that I could, so I did.’ She alone didn’t change the handbag world but she was an inspiring accessory. #KateSpade #RIP”
Considering this was just hours after news of her tragic death from an apparent suicide were revealed, some felt it came off a bit tone-deaf.
The two must have known each other, but you can see the put-off reactions (below):
Kenneth Cole is an ass for that comment about Kate Spade. That’s why nobody buys his shit anymore anyway.

So, Kenneth Cole tweeted that Kate Spade “alone didn├óΓé¼Γäót change the handbag world but she was an inspiring accessory.” What he meant was “women can thank men in the fashion world” and “don├óΓé¼Γäót forget about me and my contributions.” What he should have said was “I├óΓé¼Γäóm a dick.”

Pretty sure I own more Kate Spade and no Kenneth Cole. I’m sure I will keep it that way after that comment.

Kenneth later replaced the message with:
Kate Spade left an indelible mark on the fashion industry and her inspiring life and work will be missed. We lost a true visionary today. My heart goes out to her family and to all she has touched.

What do YOU think of the backlash??
