It looks like this guy learned that hard way that the things you say on Twitter have VERY real consequences, especially when your tweets are homophobic and incredibly offensive.
This weekend, Michael Sam made a huge announcement when he came out of the closet just months before the NFL draft! However, Kent State wrestler Sam Wheeler was one of the people who was less than enthusiastic about the big moment.
The wrestler took to Twitter to express his frustration on the media coverage, writing:
“I can├óΓé¼Γäót even watch Sports Center today cause all they are talking about is Marcus Smart or that f*g from Mizzou├óΓé¼┬ª”
If you think that’s bad, it only gets worse from there.
It apparently didn’t take long for Sam to get some backlash from his insanely ignorant tweet, and he responded to his critics by saying:
“O geez I got all these f*g boys mad at me now.”
Sam since deleted the tweets, but we’re guessing he wasn’t aware that pretty much anything you put on the internet is there forever, and it didn’t take long for the disgusting messages to reach some of the heads of Kent State.
Sam’s coach Jim Andrassy spoke out about the outrageous comments and said there would DEFINITELY be consequences:
“As an alum of Kent State University and as Sam├óΓé¼Γäós head coach, I was surprised and offended by what I read on Twitter. I have spoken to Sam personally, and while he is remorseful, he will be suspended indefinitely while we determine the best course of action moving forward.”
Tht seems like a pretty logical step to us! Who knows, maybe Sam will learn to be a little more careful about the stuff he choses to put on Twitter!
That, or the University could adapt a no-tweeting policy for their athletes!!
