Kevin Smith Wants To Make Clerks III...On Broadway!

Say what!?
Although it sounds like a joke, Kevin Smith is completely serious when he says he wants to make Clerks a trilogy…as long as the third and final chapter is on Broadway for a 6-month run.
He announced his ambitions at a book signing in New York last week. Inspired by watching the hit play Seminar, the director wants to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the original Clerks in 2014 with the entire original cast appearing on stage.
In a more recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Silent Bob gave up more deets and explained:

“I├óΓé¼Γäóll make it as painless as I can: a six month run that culminates with a one-night performance we broadcast into movie theaters ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ like we did with Live From Behind a few months back. So ultimately, anyone who can├óΓé¼Γäót make it to Broadway to see the show can go to the movie theater the night we stream the production and see if for like 20 bucks. The hardest part for me won├óΓé¼Γäót be making it happen; the hardest part at this point, for me, will be standing on a stage for two hours and not talking.”

Smith sounds pretty sure he can get the entire cast back, with the exception of Jeff Anderson, who plays Randal. Coincidentally enough, the stubborn actor is the “key” to the entire production, as Smith continued:

“It took a long time to convince Jeff to do Clerks II, but we were both really happy with how the script turned out. Ultimately, I think Jeff would be into it if the script is good and so long as the the Weinstein Company is nowhere near it. But if we don├óΓé¼Γäót get Jeff, it won├óΓé¼Γäót happen. He├óΓé¼Γäós the key to Clerks III for me.”

He’s the key because Smith wants the career convenient store clerk to finally fall in love, saying:

“It├óΓé¼Γäós finally Randal├óΓé¼Γäós turn to fall in love ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ just as everything else falls apart.”

Are U a fan of the Clerks movies? If so, would U like to see the third installment as a Broadway production?
