Police Investigating Whether Teen Girl STAGED Her Own Violent Kidnapping!

Would a teenage girl go as far as to stage her own kidnapping just to get away from her mother?

That’s what police are trying to figure out after 16-year-old Karol Sanchez (above) was found unharmed following her apparent abduction.

According to reports, the teen and her mother were walking down a quiet street in the Bronx around 11:20 p.m. on Monday when a beige, four-door sedan stopped and two men, believed to be in their 20s, violently dragged Karol into the vehicle. The mother tried to stop them, but was reportedly pushed to the ground.

On Tuesday morning, police released the heartbreaking security camera footage and asked for the public’s help in solving the crime. But hours later, officials made a surprising announcement: Karol suddenly showed back up at the scene, safe and sound, and turned herself into police.

It gets even stranger. Based on Karol’s interviews with authorities, detectives are now looking into the possibility that the entire abduction was staged!

Sources told Eyewitness News that Karol’s mother wanted to move them back to their native Honduras, but the teen was adamant she wanted to stay in the US. Police apparently believe Karol and the men in the car — who allegedly know the teen — staged the kidnapping to get her away from her mother, due to ongoing tensions between the two.

Their plan started to unravel around 10 a.m. Tuesday, the insiders say, when the men got Amber Alert notifications on their phones about Karol’s abduction. After she turned herself in and was brought to the 40th Precinct station house, the teen was said to have made statements to police suggesting the whole kidnapping was a hoax.

The alleged kidnapping naturally left Karol’s family stunned. Idalmy Martinez, the teen’s aunt, said Karol, who lives with her mother in Dutchess County, NY, was in town for an appointment:

“She is a very happy, calm person. She’s always with her mother. They are very close. She is always around us, her family. We don’t know why they would take her.”

Needless to say, the ordeal took a toll on Karol’s mother. Witnesses say the woman was distraught Monday night after her daughter was seemingly taken away. One witness said:

“She was just screaming ‘My daughter, my daughter, my God, someone please help me.’ She was screaming hysterically. And I was looking, wondering what was going on. She was just screaming in the street.”

Wow.

The investigation is still ongoing. It’s unclear if anyone will be charged.
