Kit Kat recently made their debut on Instagram and quickly removed their first picture of a man in a bear costume drumming with two Kit Kat bars.
The problem was it bear‘d a striking resemblance to an infamous internet bear — Pedobear!
Pedobear is the mascot the internet as a whole has adopted as a warning flag for pedophiliac content.
Kit Kat denied any knowledge of pedobear or any intention of making a reference.
A spokesperson said:
“We produced this photo — of a real guy in a bear suit — to launch Instagram through our Facebook community. The picture is not Pedobear. We had never heard of Pedobear.”
So was it an honest mistake?
Or all a plan to get people talking about Kit Kat on Instagram?
Intentional or not, it certainly drummed up some publicity.
