Lakers star Kobe Bryant walked the red carpet to celebrate the first ever non-stop flight from Los Angeles International Airport to Istanbul, Turkey’s Ataturk Airport.
The event, celebrating the union between LAX and Turkish Airlines, was held Thursday night at Paramount Studios in Hollywood.
The air service on brand new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft is expected to generate hundreds of millions of dollars annually in economic activity in Southern California.
According to El Lay mayor Antonio Villaraigosa:
“The nonstop route between LAX and Istanbul will strengthen business, tourism and cultural ties with one of the most desirable cities in Eurasia, while providing improved connecting service to more European, Asian, African and Middle Eastern destinations.”
This is definitely good news for our state which is crippled with debt and good news for anybody in Southern California who has always wanted to go to Turkey!
