She’s tired of them. You’re tired of them. We’re tired of them.
Obviously, it’s time.
In her recent interview with Time Magazine, Kristen Wiig revealed that she is ready to retire two of her most notable (and rather annoying) characters on SNL: Gilly and Penelope.
Refresher: Gilly is the mischievous frizz-ball kiddie that loves causing trouble and Penelope, the endless one-upper.
It’s not like we didn’t find these characters HIGHlarious at the time…but it’s been AWHILE and we’re ready for new material – and so is Kristen. In fact, she was smart enough to see that the characters have run their course; she didn’t need Lorne Michaels to retire them for her.
Perhaps, its for this reason and so many others, that Lorne named her one of the “top three or four performers all-time” on SNL.
That’s quite a compliment…one we agree she deserves!
