You probably don’t need another reason to be excited for the Wonder Woman sequel, but here’s one anyway: Kristen Wiig is playing the supervillain!
On Friday, director Patty Jenkins announced that the Saturday Night Live alum will portray the DC Comics villain Cheetah in the upcoming followup to the 2017 smash hit!

An unconventional choice to face off against Gal Gadot, sure, but the actress has come a long way since her Target Lady days. She’s given emotional performances in dramedies like The Skeleton Twins and Welcome To Me, not to mention had a small (but terrifying) role in mother!.
It sounds like Jenkins has full faith in the casting choice. Confirming speculation that Wiig is to play the character, she shared on Twitter:
So excited to confirm the most thrilling news. Yes! It├óΓé¼Γäós true! So incredibly lucky to welcome the sensationally talented Kristen Wiig to our Wonder Woman family. Can’t wait to finally work with one of my favorites. And SO excited by what we have planned. #Cheetah!!! @GalGadot pic.twitter.com/Gn0jICiIAH

AH-Mazing!
Not much else is know about Wonder Woman 2 other than that it will be set during the Cold War 1980s.
Are you a fan of this casting choice?
