Jesus Guerrero was suffering from a “painful” condition prior to his unexplained death.
It’s been more than six weeks since the celebrity hairstylist and good friend of Kylie Jenner, who also worked with stars like Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry, and more, sadly passed away. Upsettingly, there’s been more mystery than fact surrounding the circumstances of his death. He reportedly fell extremely ill while on a “business trip” with J.Lo in Dubai just days before his death. As we know, he returned home to LA and visited a doctor but sadly didn’t make it. And now, his sister is opening up about what he was going through in the months leading up to his demise.

Gris Guerrero spoke with Us Weekly on Tuesday, revealing Jesus was diagnosed with gastritis — a condition that causes “redness and swelling (inflammation) of the stomach lining,” and can be caused by “drinking too much alcohol, certain medicines, or smoking,” among other things, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine. She told the outlet:
“He was diagnosed with gastritis months back, but it was never anything to get that bad. So we don’t know if that was a part of it.”
How sad that the family still doesn’t have firm answers…She added that “from the paperwork” she’s viewed, it “seems to be the case” he lost 20 pounds before his untimely death. Why? Well, according to Gris, “he couldn’t eat without it being painful” — particularly in the days leading up to his death.
So incredibly heartbreaking that his final days were so painful.
She noted they still “have so many questions and a lot doesn’t make sense,” but they “think it could have been something with his stomach.” To the best of her knowledge, Jesus hadn’t been diagnosed with pneumonia before his passing… And that beyond the family, he kept who he told to a minimum. He apparently didn’t even tell the Kylie Cosmetics founder:
“He didn’t tell a lot of people … People who saw him said, ‘You need to get rest and help,’ and he seemed to believe he could push through it and get better and unfortunately that wasn’t the case.”
Yet he was still pushing himself to work… Truly such a tragic situation all around.
Gris concluded by reiterating ““everything is a big question” as they await his autopsy results. We hope they get more solid answers soon.
Our hearts continue to be with the Guerreo family and all of Jesus’ loved ones.
