EXCLUSIVE! Kylie Jenner Admits To Lip Fillers, But Is It Right For YOU?? Plastic Surgeons Weigh In On The Plumping Procedure!

no title
Now that Kylie Jenner has admitted to temporary fillers, we thought about our time interviewing some Hollywood doctors on the subject.
Since Kylez is an icon to many young and impressionable teens, we know there has to be a lot of of questions going around about the processes available and the restrictions and advice that come with ’em!
So to help clear the air a bit, here’s a second helping of our EXCLUSIVE chat with a few experts to get the deets on the plumping procedure.
Plastic surgeon to the stars, Dr. Alessi, of the Alessi Institute and Face Forward Foundation gave us his medical opinion, sharing:

Q: In terms of lip injections, what is the minimum age they will use fillers on a client without parental approval?
A: “I wouldn’t do it unless they were 18-years-old – it is illegal to treat a minor without parental permission unless they are legally emancipated.”
Q: What is the minimum age WITH parental approval?
A: “16 with parental permission.”
Q: Is there a nationwide standard for this type of procedure?
A: “Having said that, the patient and parent would have to make a compelling case. As a plastic surgeon, we are still doctors first. If someone that young wants lip augmentation, I would need to know why and make sure it isn’t just being done because their favorite star is having it done.”

Considering Kylie is still a minor, it sounds like she would have needed mama Kris‘ permission before injecting anything into her lips, though waiting until the patient hits 18 is ideal!
Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery Inc.‘s Dr. Chiu agreed, explaining:

“For those under 18, parental consent is required, whether it is for corrective or purely cosmetic reasons. In general, a potential patient should be physically mature and have reasonable expectations. The national standard is set by the filler companies (Juvederm, Restylane, etc.), who recommend their products be used by patients between the ages of 18-65. It is not illegal to use them for those outside of the range. It would just be considered off label use.”

And West Hollywood plastic surgeon, Dr. Gary Motykie, goes even further, sharing:

“The final decision rests with the physician injector and the patient unless the patient is under the age of 18. If the patient is under the age of 18, parental approval is necessary since this is the legal age of consent in the US.
Therefore, as a standard, the patient needs to be a minimum age of 18 to use facial fillers without parental approval. The patient should also be mature enough to understand the benefits and risks of the procedure for themselves.
If these requirements are met and a physician injector thinks a patient is a good candidate for lip injections, injectable fillers (Juvederm or Restylane) are an excellent option for enhancing the lips and their safety has been well documented.”

Yup! Either way you slice it, a parent still would have had to permitted in Kylie’s case, no matter how mature she may seem. Though a rep from Beverly Hills’ Cienega Med Spa, confirmed:

“Lip injections and dermal fillers, which receive so much negative press are really a wonderful addition to beautiful, correct and balance the face. They should be done artfully. However, many can become addicted to the results this having overdone results.”

So we ask, would U ever be up for something like this??? Let us know in the comments (below)!
