Kylie Jenner‘s controversial wheelchair photo from her Interview shoot has been given a new perspective.
One of the complaints from disability activists was that Kylie’s shoot was taking away from disabled models who rarely get the type of opportunities and work that their able-bodied colleagues get.

In response, photographer Jennifer Rovero teamed up with amputee model Lauren Wasser, who lost her right leg to toxic shock syndrome, to recreate the image.
Jennifer explained the reasoning behind it:
“When the photo of Kylie first surfaced, we were indifferent. It wasn’t until we were taking my kids to school that we heard on the radio the reactions, and something stood out: One of the hosts said, ├óΓé¼╦£It’s because we don’t have any models to use in the first place’ as it was a fashion shoot. That’s when we decided to recreate this moment and show a real fashion model.”
The photo has been met with resounding praise from the model’s fans.
One Instagram follower wrote:
“You look fabulous and Interview magazine should do a re-issue and use this picture with a formal apology to the disabled community. Imo.”
Now magazines really can’t use the excuse that they just had to put an able-bodied model in a wheelchair, can they?
