New reports paint a rather scary picture of New York urban radio.
On Wednesday, radio personality Wendy Williams was slapped with a sexual harassment lawsuit by a talent booker/publicist named Nicole Spence. The suit charges that while Spence worked for The Wendy Williams Experience show on NY radio station WBLS, Williams’ manager/husband dominated the workplace, abused Williams and repeatedly propositioned Spence.
If true, it sounds like a ridiculously hostile workplace. Eeeks!
Spence names Williams’ husband Kevin Hunter and Inner City Broadcast Corp., Williams’ boss in the suit as well.
As expected, Williams and Hunter have denied the allegations.
Spence’s suit asserts that Hunter screamed and cursed at her while she worked on Williams’ show and repeatedly propositioned her, calling her on her cellphone late at night to tell her about his sexual fantasies.
The report goes on to say that when Spence refused his advances, the lawsuit says the situation worsened and his sexual comments took on a more threatening tinge.
It gets crazier…Spence also alleges that Williams and Hunter hired a hit man to silence a rival DJ!
BET reveals the legal filing alleges that the duo tried to hire a hitman to knock off rival HOT 97 radio DJ Tarsha Jones (Miss Jones) because she badmouthed Williams.
“The office is run by street gangster tactics,” the legal papers charge.
