Based on the fact that over 300 large global brands use endangered animals or plants as their logos, the Global Environment Facility, the World Bank, and the International Union for Conservation of Nature have teamed together to run the “Save Your Logo Initiative.” And who better to be the first to sign on than the company who invented the animal logo – Lacoste! The brand’s president, Michael Lacoste, said:
“We hope to be able to give back to our iconic crocodile — to whom we owe so much — a small part of what he has brought us. Seventy-five years ago, we were the first company to embroider a logo on apparel, and now we are the first company to support ‘Save Your Logo.’”
As part of the initiative, Lacoste will spend $500,000 over the next three years to help save endangered crocodiles.
Giving is great in any amount, but for a major corporation like Lacoste, isn’t $500,000 over three years kind of stingy?
Regardless, it’s great that they’re giving back, even if it is for their image.
Wonder who will be the next company to sign on!
