The Brits are very fond of Rihanna and Lady Gaga‘s corset fashions!
The two famous femmes have made a habit of wearing intimates out in the open, and it seems the ladies on the other side of the pond are following suit. Selfridges’s Oxford Street store reported a 70% rise in sales of luxury corsets from the same period last year.
Selfredges head lingerie buyer, Helen Attwood, says “The trend of underwear worn as outerwear is more popular than ever, with customers investing more in fashion that adds a touch of spice to everyday life.”
After Rihanna wore a white bandage slip to the American Music Awards, Bordelle’s Angela Cage Bandage Slip, which retails at $596, sales jumped 90%. Similarly, the label’s monochrome girdle with white feathers, priced at $1,470 and similar to some Gagalicious get ups, sold out within 24 hours of hitting the shelves.
Many lingerie labels have consequently moved up their Christmas collection launch dates in an attempt to maximize sales.
