Sources tell People Lamar has really thought it all out, with one close pal saying:

“[Lamar]’s being very adult and mature and just wants to be a great father and brother, a better friend.”

Aww! We can only imagine since his divorce papers from Khloé Kardashian will be finalized later this week.
The source continued to dish:

“He drove himself, it was his idea. He’s going to be gone during the holidays, which is when people have relapses and problems.”

It’s great to hear the 37-year-old is being so proactive about his wellness, especially since it was only over a year ago he almost fatally overdosed.
So far, the reality TV starlet’s ex has been in “great spirits”:

“The goal is for him to be inside during Christmas and New Years. Crazy things happen during those times. There’s been amazing reports from the doctors thus far. He’s doing extraordinary well, he’s in great spirits.”

A different source added of Lamar’s health before he even admitted himself into the treatment center:

“He was functioning perfectly fine. It’s a sickness, a medical issue. But now he’s finally taking a proactive approach to it. He’s not in the danger zone now.”

As of now, the celeb “does not have any access to internet or TV” while he focuses on his stay in rehab.
The confidante explained how his family has inspired him to finally get better:

“The guy nearly died. I think he feels blessed to be alive. His kids were very supportive and the core people in his life know and were supportive. His true friends like Kobe [Bryant] and these guys have gotten behind him and given him some encouragement to be better and do better.”

Whatever the case, we’re just glad Odom is taking these steps!
We’re wishing him all the best!
