In case you hadn’t heard, there’s a salacious story making the rounds of the tabloidiest tabloids saying Lamar Odom got kidnapped.
Seriously, that’s a real thing.

Real enough that now the former NBA star has actually heard about it and responded, posting Wednesday night:

The RadarOnline original story, essentially, was that Lamar was visiting his girlfriend, Savannah Waldrop, in early June when he borrowed $10K from “shady locals” to gamble with — and when he couldn’t pay it back he was taken and held at gunpoint for two days until his team could scrounge together $5K to free him.
That’s the story.
Too bad it’s not real — sounds like a GREAT episode of reality TV for sweeps week!
Odom’s publicist responded to E! News‘ request for a comment, saying:
“We are aware of the false story circulating around regarding Lamar. We are not denying that Lamar does know this woman, however she was merely an acquaintance.”
His manager gave an even stronger denial, saying:
“The kidnapping is false, it’s a lie, it’s made up. He does know her. He’s not going to deny that, but she was just a girl he used to party with.”
Um, ouch?
Well, we’re glad Lamar is OK.
