A basketball comeback would have been so inspiring.
Apparently, Lamar Odom was attempting a comeback to professional basketball in the weeks before he suffered the drug overdose that put his life in jeopardy on Tuesday in Nevada.

Odom, 35, played more than a decade in the NBA, for teams like the Dallas Mavericks (pictured above), the Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers, and he experienced a great deal of success during his time in the league.
Now, a source has come forward revealing that Odom was seriously training at the sport right up until a couple weeks ago at an athletic center in a suburb of Las Vegas. The source said:

“He seemed pretty serious about training to get a pro tryout. He had trainers with him and was working on his shot. He also was working on his cardio on the Stairmaster. He looked good.”

Very inneresting — we’ve previously reported that ex-teammates believed basketball to be Lamar’s version of therapy, so being near the game would seem to have a positive impact on his mental and physical health.

NBA teams are currently in the middle of their preseason schedule, too; had things gone right for Lamar, he could’ve caught on with a team this month before the season begins in about two weeks.
For now, though, all that is unimportant compared to the former hoops star’s health — and it appears that his condition is improving, if only incrementally, as time goes on.
