Lance Reddick‘s wife is speaking out for the first time since his sudden death.
Stephanie Reddick took to the late actor’s Instagram account on Saturday to share several pictures of him, including one of his character Commander Zavala in the video game series Destiny. She also wrote an emotional tribute to her husband in the caption, saying:
“Lance was taken from us far too soon. Thank you for all your overwhelming love, support and beautiful stories shared on these platforms over the last day. I see your messages and can’t begin to express how grateful I am to have them. And to the thousands of Destiny players who played in special tribute to Lance, thank you. Lance loved you as much as he loved the game.”

Stephanie also noted that donations can be made to Mom Cares in his hometown Baltimore. You can see her entire message (below):
As we previously reported, Lance – who was best known for his work on The Wire and the John Wick movie franchise – passed away from natural causes on Friday. He was only 60 years old. His rep confirmed the news to Entertainment Tonight, saying:
“Acclaimed actor Lance Reddick passed away suddenly this morning from natural causes. He is survived by his wife Stephanie Reddick and children Yvonne Nicole Reddick and Christopher Reddick. Donations in his memory can be made to momcares.org in Baltimore, his hometown. Lance will be greatly missed. Please respect his family’s privacy at this time.”
Following the news of his unexpected death, many fans and celebrities reacted to the tragedy, including Keanu Reeves and John Wick director Chad Stahelski. They issued a joint statement that read:
“We are deeply saddened and heartbroken at the loss of our beloved friend and colleague Lance Reddick. He was the consummate professional and a joy to work with. Our love and prayers are with his wife Stephanie, his children, family and friends. We dedicate the film to his loving memory. We will miss him dearly.”
Halle Berry also expressed in the comments section of Stephanie’s post:
“My love and prayers are with the family at this very sad time. Lance was one of the most sincere people I’d ever met. Truly one of a kind ! RIP sweet king”
