LAPD Detective Investigating Derrick Rose's Alleged Rape Case Found Dead

The LAPD detective investigating the gang rape allegations against basketball star Derrick Rose (pictured above) was found dead at a Whittier, California home on Tuesday.
According to new reports, 44-year-old Nadine Hernandez was discovered to have suffered from a single gunshot wound when police responded to a call about an attempted suicide. She was then transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Police are currently looking into her death, telling The Los Angeles Times:

“At this time there are no signs of foul play and this incident is being investigated as a suicide. However, this is an ongoing investigation.”

A firearm was recovered at the scene.
The LAPD also made a statement regarding her work with Rose’s case, explaining:

“At this point there is no indication that her case work had any connection to her death. The Rose investigation will continue unimpeded.”

You may recall, a letter written by Hernandez confirmed the investigation involving the 28-year-old was “current and open” as she also revealed the victim’s name would be kept confidential throughout the legal proceedings.
Wow. Our thoughts are with Nadine’s family and friends.
