Larry Hagman is returning to Dallas to reprise his role as the villainous J.R. Ewing next summer, but unfortunately is bringing an unwanted real-life villain with him. At 80-years-old, he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
In an interview on the set of the TNT reboot, Larry was in good spirits and shared his decision to continue shooting despite his illness, explaining:
“I feel good. I haven’t started my therapy yet, but it’s treatable and curable. I’m going to try to work through the whole thing and keep working during the therapy.”
Since his diagnosis, the actor has even adopted a healthier, vegetarian diet, saying:
“I’ve lost about six pounds already in about eight days. I’m full all the time and I’m getting use to the taste of things without salt, without sugar.”
Even though he’s dealing with a major health scare, the actor shared he’s just happy to be working at his age.
We wish Larry the best and can’t wait to see what J.R. has been up to all these years when Dallas returns to television next summer!
