We now know who the father of Mae Whitman’s child is, all thanks to her on-screen momma Lauren Graham!
For those who don’t know, the 36-year-old actress announced she was expecting her first child in May 2024 with the help of her Parenthood co-stars Lauren and Miles Heizer. She welcomed her son, Miles, three months later. However, Mae never revealed the identity of her baby daddy! But Lauren accidentally just did!

While talking to their fellow Parenthood alum, Dax Shepard, on his Armchair Expert podcast on Monday, she let it slip that the father of Mae’s son is… Carlos Valdes!
You may recognize him from the show The Flash, where he starred as Cisco Ramon from 2014 to 2021. Carlos and Mae starred in the rom-com series Up Here for one season in 2023. But we guess they became a thing IRL! He currently works on the show Hadestown on Broadway, which is how the Gilmore Girls alum spilled the beans! Lauren tried to remember “the last time” she saw Mae, saying on the podcast:
“They’re in New York now. Carlos, her baby daddy, is on Broadway in ‘Hadestown,’ which I feel happy to plug because he’s fantastic in it. Carlos Valdes. So they’re in New York for the next while, and then she got this job in Ireland. So she’s in Ireland with the baby. It’s a lot.”
Oh, Lauren…
She just completely gave it away! Lauren then gushed about Carlos, saying he’s “lovely” and “really great.” He may not have kind things to say at this moment if he and Mae wanted to keep this a secret! Oof! Watch the podcast moment (below):
