TIME may have left her off their 100 Most Influential People list but they’re righting their wrong this month by finally shining their spotlight on the drop-dead gorgeous Laverne Cox!
The Orange Is The New Black star is gracing the mag’s cover, becoming the FIRST trans person to ever have that honor!
Well, it’s about TIME!
The actress is featured in their new report titled The Transgender Tipping Point, which examines the rise in awareness of trans Americans and how gender status and definitions have changed and been reshaped.
Cox is quoted in the piece, saying:
“We are in a place now where more and more trans people want to come forward and say, ├óΓé¼╦£This is who I am.├óΓé¼Γäó And more trans people are willing to tell their stories. More of us are living visibly and pursuing our dreams visibly, so people can say, ├óΓé¼╦£Oh yeah, I know someone who is trans.├óΓé¼Γäó When people have points of reference that are humanizing, that demystifies difference.├óΓé¼┬¥
And when people have someone like you to look up to, Ms. Cox, the world is surely a better place!
You’re an inspiration!
Congratz on your cover!
