Leo And Scorsese Get Pushed Back

In a surprising move, this afternoon it was announced that Martin Scorsese’s next film, Shutter Island, starring Leonardo DiCarapio, will be pushed back to a February 2010 release from its original October 2009 date.

There are several possible reasons behind the move, but the most likely are the lack of funds to promote the flick with this year’s studio budget or Leo’s lack of availability to promote internationally.

It’s still a pretty big slap in face. Plus, since the trailer premiered in June, there has been a lot of buzz for the flick, which could fizzle if audiences have to wait too long to see it.

Also, moving the film to February takes it out of Oscar contention.

Hope they are making the right decision!
