Report: Les Moonves Stepping Down As Chief Executive Officer At CBS

CBS CEO Les Moonves Stepping Down

UPDATE, 7:30 p.m. ET — The announcement has just been made by CBS, so things are official. But beyond Moonves’ leaving the network, there are some big things here that we’ve just learned: first, the network says they will donate a whopping $20 million to an organization that supports the #MeToo Movement on Moonves’ behalf.
That donation will not only come immediately, it’ll also be cold, hard cash coming out of any severance package Moonves would have received following the investigation into his sexual misconduct scandals. WOW!!!
Not only that, but the company also announced that Moonves will not be getting ANY type of severance at this point, though he may receive further payment once the network’s investigation is wrapped and after a final evaluation of it all from the board of directors.
Doesn’t mean Les Moonves will walk away with nothing… but for a man who was about to get off scot-free with tens of millions of dollars more in the bank upon leaving, this is sure a BIG deal. Good call, CBS!!
__________
Say goodbye to Les Moonves at CBS!
The longtime chief executive officer of the network is reportedly stepping down and resigning from his position after another six allegations of sexual misconduct against him were revealed in a New Yorker report this morning.

That’s the SECOND set of sexual misconduct allegations levied against Moonves in the last year; now, it appears that what had been a lengthy discussion about how to remove him will turn into a quick and decisive exit.
First reported by CNN‘s Brian Stetler on Sunday morning, Moonves’ official announcement should come Sunday night or Monday morning, according to sources.
Considering the breadth and depth of these allegations… it’s about time.
