Hawaii Governor Appoints Out Lesbian To State's Supreme Court

Yayyy Hawaii!!!
Governor Neil Abercrombie of Hawaii has appointed Judge Sabrina McKenna, an out lesbian, to the state’s Supreme Court.
In a perfect world, this wouldn’t be a big deal, but our world ain’t perfect yet and IT IS a big deal!
Abercrombie said McKenna’s appointment had everything to do with her intelligence, temperament and legal knowledge and nothing to do with her sexuality.
McKenna on the other hand believes it’s important to talk about her sexuality, saying:

├óΓé¼┼ôI think the reason I am willing to have this interview is that I want the young people to know that it doesn├óΓé¼Γäót matter who you are.”

Totally!
What a great role model for the gay community everybody!
She continued:

“Whether you are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, be yourself. Be honest with yourself, even if people reject you, just do your best and anything is possible if you work hard and try hard.”

So true.
Even better, McKenna’s confirmation hearing will coincide with the just-launched effort to pass civil unions in Hawaii, but legislators say that issue will not effect their assessment of her candidacy.
Congratulations, Judge McKenna!
