What a great idea!
In an effort to honor the assassinated San Francisco politician and activist Harvey Milk, LGBT activists are campaigning for the U.S. Postal Service to issue a stamp honoring the iconic city supervisor.
Those close to the project think Harvey would love the idea, while finding it hilarious.
Civil rights activist David Mixner, who fully supports the national campaign, wrote on his blog:
“He would get that twisted smile of his and say, ‘Hell, imagine all those straights having to lick my backside to send a piece of mail.’”
Ha! We can’t imagine him NOT loving this idea and therefore, we fully support it!
The campaign to put the historical civil and gay rights activists face on a stamp has already garnered support from California assembly speaker John Pérez, Oscar winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black (who wrote Milk), and the Reverend Troy Perry.
