Celebs are well know for advertising commercial products. Especially if the payment is large.

Now, the latest celeb to join the commercial campaigns is Sylvester Stallone.

Sly has partnered up with Russian vidka producer Synergy and has signed a one-year contract.

He will soon appear in television and newspaper ads for the vodka brand Russian Ice.

Ironically enough, his Rocky character, Racky Balboa, humiliated a Soviet boxer and John Rambo was shown killing several Soviet troops in Afghanistan.

The Rocky and Rambo movies were banned in the Soviet Union, though became widely available decades ago thanks to the country’s underground VHS market.

But the Soviets have no hard feelings against the movie star it seems. Especially considering that the deal is said to be worth about $1 million.

As for the reason they picked Stallone, Synergy’s statement says, “The advertising campaign concept was based on the fact that the actor has Russian roots.”

His Russian roots refer to Stallone’s GREAT-grandmother, Rosa Rabinovich, who was from the Ukraine.

Whatever pays the bills!
