Lisa Vanderpump Slammed For Making An Anti-Transgender Joke About Erika Jayne

UPDATE 5/23 9:28 A.M.: In a statement to E! News, Vanderpump issued the following apology on her “poor choice of words”:

“It was not my intention to belittle the trans community with my poor choice of words directed toward Erika. I have nothing but respect and love for trans people around the world, as I have been a staunch supporter, provided employment offered emotional support and championed LGBTQ issues. With recent news of trans women losing their lives for living their authentic truth in a world of discrimination and hate, I never want to diminish the very real pain and struggle that trans people go through every day.”

Seriously?!
Lisa Vanderpump is accused of making an anti-trans joke about her Real Housewives of Beverly Hills costar Erika Jayne on Tuesday night’s episode, and many are not okay with the whole situation!

Her controversial moment went down as she took (and passed) a lie detector test to prove that she didn’t leak a story to the tabloids about PuppyGate. Before busting into laughter, the 58-year-old said:

“Just don’t ask me if Erika’s tucking or something like that because there are some things I can’t lie about.”

Yikes…

If you need a catch up on RHOBH, drama has been going down this season between many of the costars after Dorit Kemsley adopted a pup from Vanderpump Dogs, and proceeded to find her a “beautiful home,” after it turned out the dog Lucy Lucy Apple Juice “was not the right fit” for Kemsley’s family.
Well, apparently the owner who the mother-of-two gifted Lucy to also had troubles with the pup, and gave her to a shelter. The shelter scanned her microchip and was able to trace her back to Vanderpump Dogs, infuriating Lisa.
While live-tweeting Tuesday night’s episode, Lisa Rinna swiftly came to Erika’s defense, writing:

“Who knew Lvp was transphobic? Well, we know NOW! #LBGTQ

She also retweeted:

The Roller Coaster singer has yet to comment on what Vanderpump said about her, but from this retweet, it’s pretty clear it didn’t sit well:

Many on Twitter shared the (above) sentiments, confused why Miz Vanderpump felt it necessary to take a dig like that at Jayne:

“The mass majority of people aren’t calling LVP a raging transphobe but merely stating that such comments are used to insult trans women all the time and therefore dont resonate positively. She’s allowed to be critiqued, regardless of any activism. #RHOBH”
“Wow Lisa saying @erikajayne if Erika tucks or not is disgusting and I’m not buying this lie test that proves nothing. Those little b***hes johns sold the story your still guilty b***h #RHOBH”

However, many on the social media site were also quick to point out that Miz Jayne has joked about the topic herself, and wouldn’t entirely label Lisa V’s comment as transphobic:

“So if Erika loves to tell people to suck her d**k and they’ve all referred to a woman who has big balls, what’s different about LVP suggesting Erika to tuck said d**k that she likes to tell people to suck? #stopreaching #rhobh”

“Calling someone transphobic because they commented about something that Erika herself seems to discuss around those realms is a reach. Let’s not dispute all the work @LisaVanderpump has done for the LGBTQ community. She has given endless support & continues to do so. #RHOBH
