Liz Claiborne Sued Again!

Liz Claiborne must be racking up quite the legal fees.

Back in December she was slammed with a $20.2 million dollar lawsuit by their former fragrance distributor, Selective Beauty.

And now the company is being sued by Bird Handbags, a company owned by former model Liz Carey who’s brought on a trademark lawsuit against Liz Claiborne Inc. and Juicy Couture.

On January 29th, Carey filed a suit in federal court in Manhattan against Juicy Couture’s new apparel line, Bird by Juicy Couture.

According to Carey, she claims the brand infringes on her trademarks for her handbag firm which she’s owned since 2006.

She’s also complaining about receiving several calls from editors and clients to find out about the apparel line believing she has something to do with it.

And according to Carey’s attorney, ├óΓé¼┼ôProspective buyers have also mistakenly sought to purchase apparel from Bird Handbags under the belief that defendant├óΓé¼Γäós ├óΓé¼╦£Bird├óΓé¼Γäó brand was designed, produced and/or offered for sale by Bird Handbags.”

But Claiborne isn’t buying any of it. In fact, their senior VP and chief legal officer said ├óΓé¼┼ôWe believe the claims to be without merit, and we will defend the lawsuit vigorously.├óΓé¼┬¥
