Lorde Apologizes For Making Whitney Houston Bathtub Reference On Instagram: 'I'm An Idiot'

no title
Think before you reference Whitney Houston‘s singing on social media.
Lorde learned that the hard way on Thursday when she received waves of backlash after referencing the late singer in the caption of an Instagram photo of a bathtub.

In the now-deleted post, the 21-year-old simply wrote, “And iiii will always love you” — a reference to the 1992 Whitney cover of Dolly Parton‘s song I Will Always Love You. What slipped Lorde’s mind, however, is that Miz Houston accidentally drowned in a hotel bathtub in 2012.
After fans issued a reminder, the Green Light songstress took down the pic and shared an apology to her IG Story, writing:

“Extremely extremely poorly chosen quote.
I’m so sorry for offending anyone├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥I hadn’t even put this together I was just excited to take a bath.
I’m an idiot. Love Whitney forever and ever. Sorry again.”

Since Lorde is knee-deep in her Melodrama World Tour, we doubt she was trying to draw up controversy here.
After all, who doesn’t love baths?
