Lori Loughlin & Mossimo Giannulli Are Active Participants In Their Legal Defense & 'Both Very Type A'

Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli have always dealt with situations in a hands-on matter, and their legal defense in the ongoing college admissions scandal is no exception!
A source tells People that the embattled couple are actively involved in their case after being charged with mail fraud and money laundering conspiracy in the nationwide admissions scheme.

They each face up to 40 years in prison, so, naturally the 54-year-old actress and 55-year-old fashion designer have been quite anal-retentive when it comes to preparing their case. The insider explained:

“They’re both very type A, and they’re figuring out what to do next. They are both mounting a vigorous defense against the charges.”

As we reported, Loughlin and Giannulli were arrested and charged for allegedly paying $500,000 to admissions consultant William “Rick” Singer and his nonprofit organization to have their daughters Olivia Jade and Isabella Rose designated as recruits for the USC crew team — despite the fact that neither had ever played the sport.

The couple rejected a plea deal back in March that would have drastically reduced their sentences, and are said to be unwilling to enter any deal that would put them behind bars
While prosecutors have tons of evidence implicating the couple, Loughlin and Giannulli are still hopeful they will be found not guilty — and Aunt Becky’s type A personality is making sure everything goes according to plan.
The source added that the reality of the situation has “totally sunk in with Lori,” who is now focusing all her energy on the next legal steps in the trial. The insider explained:

“She’s an intelligent woman, and she is very logical. Now that the shock has totally worn off and this has become her new normal, her feeling is, ‘Okay, what do I do next?’ And she knows that her next step is to really focus on her next legal steps.”

One way she’s reportedly doing that is by carefully monitoring the case of Felicity Huffman, who was one of the 50 people the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts announced it had charged in the scandal back in March.

Of course, the couple are well aware that their own cases are quite different: Huffman was only charged with mail fraud, and she only paid Singer $15,000.
Still, the Fuller House star apparently has more legal wits than people are giving her credit for, as the insider elaborated:

“Lori in particular has become extremely well-versed in the case. She’s an active participant in her own defense.”

Let’s not forget: Lori also played a crime-solving antique shop owner in that Hallmark Channel film series Garage Sale Mystery, so prosecutors would be wise not to underestimate her…

Earlier this month, it was reported that Loughlin feels like she has a “valid defense,” where she plans on pleading ignorance. A source said at the time:

“She feels like she’s got a valid defense, and that when all the evidence comes out, that she won’t be found guilty. She still is looking into the avenues to defend herself against what she thinks is a meritless charge.”

Will Aunt Becky actually get herself and her husband out of this mess!?
We’ll find out when the trial goes down.
