Talk about a sad twist to an already intense story.
According to sources, Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling has been battling prostate cancer for quite some time now.
The 80-year-old was recently banned from the NBA by commissioner Adam Silver after audio recordings of him going on a racist rant were leaked this weekend.
Clippers forward Blake Griffin spoke out about the cancer news, though, saying:
“If that is true, my thoughts and prayers are with him. Nobody deserves to go through something like that.”
Head coach Doc Rivers said he was not aware of Donald’s health condition, while point guard Chris Paul called the situation “truly unfortunate.”
Neither Donald nor his wife Shelly Sterling have spoken publicly about his battle with prostate cancer, however, sources close to the 80-year-old say he’s been battling for the disease for a few years now.
