This is beyond horrible. It’s evil.
The main singer of the successful band Lostprophets Ian Watkins has admitted to the bevy of child sex offenses he’s facing including pleading guilty to the attempted rape of a baby.
The former musician was in Cardiff Crown Court in Wales on Tuesday, Nov. 26 when he plead guilty to all of the charges against him, including several attempts of rape charges, except a charge of rape which the prosecution accepted.
The charges included “three counts of sexual assault involving children and six involving taking, making or possessing indecent images of children and one of possessing an extreme pornographic image involving a sex act on an animal.”
Watkins will be sentenced on December 18th.
A lot of the evidence against Watkins was found on his personal computer where he apparently filmed all of the abuse that took place at his hands, and were so graphic that they can’t even be reported on.
The victims were the children of apparent fans of the singer who allowed their children to be abused by Watkins, and participated in forms of the abuse, as well. One of the victims was a 11-month old boy.
The two female co-defendants have been charged, as well.
The prosecutor of the case said:
“Both women sexually abused their own children and made them available to Watkins for him to abuse.”
Here’s what the prosecutor also said:
“Ian Watkins was the lead singer of a successful band, The Lostprophets. He also, by virtue of his plea, accepts he is a determined and committed pedophile. He has engaged in serious sexual offenses against two babies belonging to the female defendants in this case. Not only has he done so but he recorded and kept episodes of this abuse which were recovered by the police.”
Here’s what Peter Doyle of the South Wales police said:
“This investigation has uncovered the most shocking and harrowing child abuse evidence I have ever seen. There is no doubt in my mind that Ian Watkins exploited his celebrity status in order to abuse young children.”
The Lostprophets, who have played together for fifteen years, disbanded back in October.
Here’s what the band said in a statement:
“After nearly a year of coming to terms with our heartache, we finally feel ready to announce publicly what we have thought privately for some time. We can no longer continue making or performing music as Lostprophets.”
We are still trying to wrap our heads around all of this information, but we are sending out our thoughts and prayers to the abuse victims.
We’re so sorry their caretakers did the opposite of protecting them, and allowed such terrible monstrosities to happen.
