Louis C.K. loves his fans and they love him right back.
The comedian and creator of the FX show Louis sold $4.5 million worth of tickets for his upcoming fall tour in just 45 hours!
Although he’s already one of the top touring comics these days, his most recent success was not just because of his reputation. C.K. decided to cut Ticketmaster out of the deal and sold seats through his own web site for just $45 a piece.
Instead of making fans pay extra fees that the ticketing agency would have profited from, they paid a flat rate and scored the cheapest tickets in the country to see a major headlining comic.
The fan favorite explained his decision by saying:
“Most tickets for comedians in a theater venue start at $50. The cheapest ticket in most comedians├óΓé¼Γäó markets is $45, which is, like, a horrible seat at a Bill Maher show, and then you have a ticket charge on top of that. My tickets are going to be $45 all over the country, and there├óΓé¼Γäós no ticket charges because we├óΓé¼Γäóve made deals with venues that don├óΓé¼Γäót have lockdown affiliation deals. I don├óΓé¼Γäót do this for money. To me, it├óΓé¼Γäós the number of tickets I sell that├óΓé¼Γäós satisfying. I like knowing we sold out Chicago in an hour. That├óΓé¼Γäós a good feeling. This year I├óΓé¼Γäóm going to have the lowest tickets on the road. I├óΓé¼Γäóm going to be the cheapest comedian ever!”
We like his approach! He knows he already has plenty of money, so there is no need to squeeze every penny out of his fans that he can.
Thanks for being awesome, Louis! You deserve ALL of the success that has come your way over the last few years.
