Oh, no!
Oscar winner Louis Gossett, Jr. was diagnosed with the early stages of prostate cancer at the age of 73 years old.
The actor, who won an Academy Award in 1982 for An Officer and a Gentleman, came forth with the news in order to encourage other African-American men to get checked out. He says he wants:
“to set an example for the large number of African-American men who are victims of this disease because of the comparatively low emphasis in our community on preventative examinations and early treatment.
“I want to influence them to seek, as I have, the fine medical care and early detection now available.”
Get well soon, Louis! Our thoughts are with you!
