Chelsea Griffin and Kwame Appiah are over!
The reality stars announced on Instagram on Friday that they are breaking up after four years of marriage. Along with a black-and-white picture of them hugging each other, Chelsea wrote in a statement:
“Last week would have marked our fourth wedding anniversary. Out of respect for the life we shared, I wanted to address this moment directly with the community that has supported us over the years. It’s heartbreaking to share that our marriage is coming to an end. This is not the outcome I hoped for, and I entered this relationship with deep love, commitment and the intention of building a lasting life together.”

So what went wrong? According to Chelsea, it wasn’t due to a lack of love. They just realized over time that they were on “different” paths in life:
“As time went on, it became clear we are growing in different directions. I poured my whole heart into this marriage and wanted it to work until the very end, but lasting marriages require more than love alone.”
In a similar statement, which he has since removed, Kwame added that he and Chelsea’s “ultimate life goals didn’t feel aligned” before adding:
“This isn’t something either of us ever imagined, and it’s been one of the hardest decisions to make. As difficult as it’s been to arrive here, I believe it’s in our best interest considering amongst many other things, that our ultimate life goals don’t feel aligned.”
That’s sad to hear, but it unfortunately happens! Chelsea went on to say:
“I remain grateful for the life, memories, and experiences we shared. I don’t believe any chapter of our lives is wasted, each one shapes us, teaches us, and becomes part of our personal journey. My mantra going forward is that I am strong, I am resilient, and there is still so much ahead of me, just as there was the day I stepped into the pods.”
Although Chelsea said that “this chapter is deeply painful,” she trusts that “healing and clarity will come with time.” She concluded:
“Thank you for the kindness and support you’ve shown us throughout the years. We kindly ask for privacy and understanding as we navigate this transition.”

As fans know, Chelsea and Kwame met and fell in love in the pods on Season 4 of Love Is Blind, which aired in 2023. They got engaged — despite a short-lived love triangle with Micah Lussier. And although the pair struggled with his relocation from Portland, Oregon, to Seattle, along with their conflicting timelines over having kids, they ultimately got married in 2022. The couple was not a fan favorite, as many thought they weren’t each other’s perfect match. However, Kwame and Chelsea seemed to prove them wrong until now. Weeks before the split announcement, they actually sparked divorce rumors after people noticed Chelsea stopped wearing her wedding ring in photos. Others noticed she no longer included Kwame’s last name, Appiah, on her IG.
Ugh! This breaks our hearts! We’re sending both of them love during this difficult process! Reactions, Perezcious readers? Let us know in the comments (below)!
