We’re all still trying to make sense of Luke Perry‘s sudden passing earlier this month… but nobody is grappling with it more so than the people who were closest to the Beverly Hills, 90210 and Riverdale TV star.
And those loved ones close to him include fiancee Wendy Madison Bauer, who lost the love of her life and soon-to-be-husband when Perry passed on March 4 at the age of 52.

Speaking to E! News about her fiance’s untimely death and the shock and fallout that has followed, Bauer said (below):
“I want to express my gratitude to everyone for the outpouring of love and support. The countless, heart warming stories of Luke’s generosity and kindness have been a great source of solace during this difficult time. The past 11 1/2 years with Luke were the happiest years of my life, and I am grateful to have had that time with him. I also want to thank his children, family, and friends for their love and support. We have found comfort in one another and in the knowledge that our lives were touched by an extraordinary man. He will be dearly missed.”
Wow. To think that the pair had been soon planning marriage, and the future, and the rest of their lives, only for it to come down like this… ugh.
No question it’s tough for someone that close to Perry to process this untimely and shocking death — our hearts break to read that statement and think about the kind of pain and shock she’s had to process in grieving for the TV star and family man the last several days.

Ironically, Bauer is a well-known marriage and family therapist in her professional life who, it turns out, just so happens to specialize in grief counseling. That professional skill set may help her some through this tough time, of course — we certainly hope it does — but it’s a very different thing to deal with a personal tragedy like this than it is to help others in a therapy setting. Point is: we know everybody around Luke is hurting, and we can certainly empathize.
