Thousands of fans paid respects to the late Mac Miller at one of his favorite childhood hangout spots on Tuesday.
According to local reports, a few thousand people gathered at Frick Park’s Blue Slide Playground in Pittsburgh to remember the 26-year-old rapper, four days after news broke that he died of an apparent overdose.

The playground was a huge part of Mac’s childhood and even inspired the name of his debut album, Blue Slide Park. Some attendees reportedly signed a petition to change the name of the Frick Park playground area to “Mac Miller Blue Slide Park.”
The public vigil was hosted by Nightfall Records, who posted on Facebook last week:
“We would like to bring the city together in full force for this legendary icon. Mac deserves to be sent off with an evening of celebrating his life, discussing his struggles, and remembering his stories; most importantly for his iconic work that brought joy into the lives of everybody who listened. We are welcoming all artists to come and paint, create, draw, live tribute art for this event.”
Earlier in the day, crews put a fresh coat of paint on the playground’s iconic blue slide.
As we reported yesterday, Mac’s cause of death is still unclear as officials are awaiting toxicology reports.
