Now that her first adoption defeat was overturned, Madonna is thrilled to officially call three-year-old Chifundo “Mercy” James her own.
“I am extremely grateful for the Supreme Court’s ruling on my application to adopt Mercy James. I am ecstatic. My family and I look forward to sharing our lives with her,” said the singer, through her spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg, on Monday.
Madge was initially denied adoption after a judge ruled that prospective parents must live in Malawi 18 to 24 months.
At the appeal on Friday, Chief Justice Lovemore Munlo deemed the residency requirements an “old law” and approved the adoption.
Madonna and Mercy should be together mid-week!!!
