Hey! If they were willing to do that to Bruce Springsteen AND Paul McCartney, we can’t say we’re too surprised!
In light of the pair being shut down for playing past curfew during their surprise duet at Hyde Park’s Hard Rock Calling concert Saturday night, Madonna has also now been informed by Live Nation that she, too, will get the same treatment if show attempts to perform past 10:30pm during her MDNA stop in England tomorrow!
According to John Probyn, Live Nation’s chief operating officer:
“It won’t happen again. We’ve had lengthy conversations with Madonna’s people. They contacted us. We’ve worked out with them what time she needs to go on stage to finish on time. That’s all in hand. We’d have no choice [but to pull the plug if she goes over]. We are effectively breaking the law if we carry on. There’s not a lot we can do. She will finish on time.”
And according to the Westminster council, who enforces the curfew:
“These time limits are a compromise between the interests of the organisers on one hand and local residents on the other, and are put in place for a reason — to get people out safely and to minimise disruption for residents.”
Well, whether or not these terms seem fair to the rest of us, it is what it is, and we’re sure Her Madgesty will put on an INCREDIBLE show within the proper time constraints!
Just don’t expect it to be a late night! Ha!
